Agency cost per client

Tool costs look small until you divide them by clients. Enter what you pay for tools and how many clients share them, and see the least you can charge and still hit your margin.

Tool cost per client per year

How this is calculated, and what it cannot know

  • Tool cost per client = shared tool costs divided by clients, plus per-client tool costs.
  • Minimum fee = tool cost per client divided by (1 minus margin). A 20 percent margin on a $60 tool cost gives $60 / 0.8 = $75. Margin here is a share of the fee, not a markup on cost.
  • This covers tool costs only. Your time, subcontractors, overheads and tax are not included, so the fee it shows is a floor for tools, not a price for the service.
